Preventative maintenance

Scheduled electrical maintenance for plants and shops to catch loose connections, wear and overheating before they cause a shutdown.

Many electrical failures in a plant give some warning first: a connection running warm, a breaker that’s starting to stick, a motor drawing more than it should. Regular maintenance finds those problems while you can still plan the fix.

We set up maintenance visits at an interval that makes sense for your equipment and how hard it runs. Equipment in dusty, damp or high-heat areas usually needs looking at more often than gear in a clean electrical room.

How it works

First we walk the facility and list the equipment to include, such as switchgear, panels, transformers, motor controls and disconnects. Then we agree with you on what gets checked, how often, and which tasks need a shutdown.

Typical work includes inspection, cleaning, tightening connections and checking breakers. Anything that needs equipment de-energized is planned with you around production and done following safe work practices. After each visit you get a written report of what we found, with an estimate for any repairs.

Signs you need it

When to give us a call.

Any of these is a good reason to have us take a look.

01

No maintenance history

If nobody can say when the switchgear was last opened up, it’s due.

02

Dust and debris

Woodworking, grain and textile operations build up material inside electrical equipment.

03

Warm panels or breakers

Heat you can feel on a panel cover often means a loose or overloaded connection inside.

04

Repeated unplanned stops

Breakdowns that keep catching you off guard suggest problems are building up unnoticed.

05

Damp or corrosive areas

Moisture and chemicals wear on terminals and enclosures faster than normal.

06

Aging equipment

Older gear is more likely to have worn parts and loose connections that a check would catch.

How it works

From first call to power on.

The same four steps whether it’s a service call or a full rewire.

How often should our electrical equipment be maintained?

+
It depends on the equipment, how hard it runs and the environment it’s in. We’ll recommend a schedule and adjust it with you over time.

Does maintenance require a full shutdown?

+
Not always. Some checks can be done with equipment running, and anything that needs power off is planned with you.

What do we get after a visit?

+
A written report of what we checked, what we found and what we recommend, with an estimate for any repairs.

Can you maintain equipment another contractor installed?

+
Yes. We can include any electrical equipment in your facility, whoever installed it.

How do we get started?

+
Call us to set up a walk-through. We’ll list the equipment and give you a free, written estimate for the maintenance plan.
