New Bern is the Craven County seat and its largest town, so the work there covers a lot of ground. Around the historic downtown, where the Neuse and Trent rivers meet, some houses are well over a century old. Farther out are neighborhoods built in the last few decades, along with offices, shops, restaurants and medical buildings.
Old houses take careful work. Some still have original wiring, two-prong outlets, or a fuse box that has been patched over the years. We trace what’s there, tell you what can stay and replace what can’t. Where we can, we work through attics, crawlspaces and existing openings so the plaster and trim take as little damage as possible.
Storefronts and tenant spaces
Downtown storefronts and commercial buildings around the city change tenants and get remodeled. A new business might need more circuits, new lighting, dedicated lines for equipment, or a panel that can carry a commercial kitchen. We do that work and coordinate with the owner or general contractor, with a permit and inspection when the job needs one.
Being on two rivers also means flooding is part of life here, as the city saw during Hurricane Florence. After a flood we check panels, outlets and equipment before the power is turned back on, and we can talk through a generator for the next storm. Whole-home surge protection is worth adding at the same time.
