Chocowinity is a small town in Beaufort County on the south side of the Pamlico River, across from Washington, with US 17 running through it. Homes in and around town range from older houses near the center to newer ones built out on the surrounding roads, and some of those are on larger lots with room for a shop or garage.
Because the area is close to the river and open to the weather that comes in off the coast, storms and outages are a real concern. Generator work and storm repairs make up a good share of what people ask us about here. We also handle the everyday jobs, like adding outlets, replacing a worn panel or wiring a new garage.
Getting ready for storm season
A standby generator is wired into your home and starts on its own when the power goes out. A portable unit costs less but needs a proper inlet and transfer switch or interlock so it can feed the house safely. We go over both, along with what you want to keep running, and size the setup to match.
After a storm, we also repair what the weather damaged. A meter base or service mast pulled loose by a limb has to be fixed before the power company will reconnect. We can do that repair, along with the permit and inspection it may need, and coordinate with the utility on getting you back on.
