Electrical panel upgrades

New panels, subpanels and service upgrades for businesses that have outgrown their electrical system or need room for new equipment.

Businesses add load over the years. A walk-in cooler, a compressor, more kitchen equipment or a server closet each needs its own circuit, and older panels fill up or run close to their limit.

A commercial panel upgrade can mean replacing a worn-out panel, adding a subpanel near the equipment it feeds, or increasing the service from the utility. Many commercial buildings have three-phase power, and we work on both single-phase and three-phase systems.

How it works

We look at your existing panels, the service coming in and what you run now or plan to add. Then we explain the options and give you a written estimate before any work starts.

Panel and service work means shutting off power, so we plan the shutdown with you ahead of time, and it can often be scheduled after hours or on a day you’re closed. When the job needs a permit and inspection, we arrange them, and we coordinate with the utility where needed.

Signs you need it

When to give us a call.

Any of these is a good reason to have us take a look.

01

Breakers trip under load

Breakers that trip when equipment starts or during your busiest hours can mean a circuit or panel is overloaded.

02

No open spaces

A full panel leaves nowhere to add a circuit for new equipment.

03

New equipment on order

Coolers, ovens, compressors and machinery often need more capacity than the building has.

04

An old or outdated panel

Panels that are decades old, or that use breakers no longer made, are worth having looked at.

05

Heat, buzzing or scorch marks

A hot, noisy or discolored panel is a safety problem, so call us right away.

06

Moving into an older building

The service in an older building may not match what your business needs to run.

(910) 736-6898

Do we need a bigger service or just another panel?

+
Sometimes a subpanel is enough. If the building is short on total capacity, the service itself may need an upgrade, and we work out which after looking at your load.

How long will we be without power?

+
It depends on the job and, for service work, on the utility’s schedule. We’ll tell you what to expect and plan the shutdown around your hours.

Do you work on three-phase systems?

+
Yes. We work on single-phase and three-phase service.

Does a panel upgrade need a permit?

+
Usually, yes. We’ll tell you what your job needs and arrange the permit and inspection.

Is there a charge for the estimate?

+
No. Estimates are free and written, and you have yours before any work starts.
