A home battery stores electricity and supplies it when you need it. Paired with solar, it can keep the power on during an outage and save daytime solar for use at night. Some batteries can also charge from the grid in homes without solar.
A battery runs quietly and needs no fuel, but it can only supply what it has stored. That’s why most setups back up a chosen group of circuits, such as the fridge, some lights and outlets, the well pump or a medical device.
How it works
We go over what you want to keep running and for how long, look at your panel and any solar you already have, and give you a written estimate.
Most installs include the battery, a separate backup panel for the circuits you want covered, and the wiring and disconnects to tie it into your system. A permit and inspection are usually needed, and the utility may need to sign off when the battery connects to solar.
