Electrical repairs

Repairs for dead outlets, warm switches, failing fixtures and damaged wiring, done safely by a licensed electrician.

Most electrical problems at home start small. An outlet stops working, a switch feels warm, or a light cuts in and out. They’re easy to put off, but loose connections and worn parts tend to get worse and can become a fire risk.

We repair and replace outlets, switches, breakers, fixtures and damaged wiring. We also fix problems left behind by past DIY work or an earlier remodel, and the repairs we make are done to current electrical code.

How it works

Once we know what’s wrong, we explain the repair in plain terms and give you a written estimate before we start. If we spot something unsafe nearby, we’ll point it out and you decide what to do about it.

We replace the failed part, check the connections around it and test the circuit before we leave. If the problem turns out to be bigger, such as a failing panel or old wiring, we’ll tell you and go over your options.

Signs you need it

When to give us a call.

Any of these is a good reason to have us take a look.

01

An outlet that’s gone dead

An outlet with no power and no tripped breaker often has a loose or burnt connection.

02

Warm switches or outlets

A cover plate that feels warm points to a bad connection or an overloaded device.

03

Scorch marks

Brown or black marks around an outlet or switch mean something has overheated.

04

Plugs fall out

Worn outlets lose their grip and can arc when the plug sits loose.

05

A GFCI that won’t reset

A GFCI outlet that won’t reset may have failed or may be catching a fault down the line.

06

Sparks when you plug in

A spark bigger than a tiny flash when you plug something in needs to be looked at.

Do you fix work someone else did?

+
Yes. We repair and correct wiring left by previous owners, DIY projects and earlier remodels.

Can old two-prong outlets be replaced?

+
Yes. Depending on the wiring, we can add a ground or use GFCI protection as current electrical code allows.

Should I repair old wiring or rewire?

+
It depends on the condition of the wiring. For one problem area a repair is usually enough. If we find trouble throughout the house, we’ll talk with you about rewiring.

Will I know the cost before you start?

+
Yes. You get a written estimate for the repair before any work begins.

What if you find more problems?

+
We’ll show you what we found and explain it. Nothing extra gets done unless you approve it.
